Corn on the Cob – Instant Pot

Cooking corn in a pressure cooker is quick and easy.   There are many simple ways to prepare corn on the cob: boil, steam, bake, broil or grill.   The fastest and easiest method with the least amount of clean-up is the Instant Pot.

The flavor of the corn is more pronounced when cooking with a pressure cooker.   The corn is crisp, not over or under cooked.   You can have fresh corn in just 15 minutes.   Only 2 minutes of pressure cooking.

Remove the Husks

Firmly grasp several layers of husk and pull.   You can pull each layer one at a time.   I typically remove all of the husk with two or three pulls.   Pull the silks (threads) with the husk.   Snap off the bottom stem and the husk will come with it.



Add the Rack

Place the rack (trivet) in the bottom of the Instant Pot.   Add 1 cup of water for 4 ears of corn.   Add an additional 1/4 cup of water for each additional 2 ears of corn.

Up to six ears of corn will fit in the six quart Instant Pot.



Cooking Time

Pressure cook 4 ears of corn on High Pressure for 2 minutes.   Use the quick release method to release the pressure.   Add an additional 1 minute for each 2 additional ears of corn.   For example: Pressure cook 6 ears of corn for 3 minutes.

Ingredients

  • 4 ears of Corn
  • 1 cup of water

Directions

  1. Remove the husks and silks from the corn.
  2. Insert the steam rack into the Instant Pot.
  3. Add 1 cup of water to into the Instant Pot.
  4. Insert the corn into the Instant Pot as evenly spaced as possible.
  5. Close the lid.
  6. Pressure cook on High Pressure for 1 – 2 minutes.
  7. Turn off the Instant Pot.
  8. Carefully Quick Release the pressure.
  9. Carefully remove the lid.
  10. Serve immediately with your favorite toppings.
