New Orleans

New Orleans

This was our first trip to New Orleans, we enjoyed it so much.  Yes, there is so much more to New Orleans than booze and beads on Bourbon Street.  We loved the food, the history, the people and the atmosphere.

The ghosts and vampires tour was fun and informative.  Doug was our tour guide, he wore a kilt and had such character.  Doug is passionate and very educated about the history he provided during the tour.

The local favors are unique and full of flavor.  We ate so much food, we tried to experience as much Creole and Cajun dishes as possible.  The seafood was all local, not imported from some other states or countries.  We had seafood prepared in so may ways, I would sound like Forest Gump providing the list.

Music, there was music everywhere.  Jazz, The Blues, Rock, Hip-hop, Country, name a genre and it could easily be found playing live.  You could watch music be played in the park, on the street, in cafes, restaurants and clubs.  We were told many times New Orleans is the music capital of the world.  I don’t doubt it at all.

Art can be seen everywhere you go and in all varieties.  There were several galleries with painting, sculptures, glass-works and carvings.  It was very common to see paintings from local artists for sale hanging on the wall of the cafes and restaurants.

Of course Beignets are easy to find.
